Before & After
Miller
Picked up by policeman after neighbors called to report a Doberman wandering around the neighborhood, Miller found himself at a local shelter. TAF’s President happened to be down there the day he was brought in and fell in love with his sweet face. Once his stray hold was up PRC took him into their program where TAF paid for him to be vetted, and once we knew his behavior was as solid as we thought it was, he went to be fostered by Sue and her two TAF dogs. Months later, he was officially adopted and is a permanent fixture in the TAF family!
Mystic
Found wandering around a church, snacking on bird seed, emaciated, mange-ridden Mystic was brought to our vet where she was hospitalized for awhile battling a number of infections. Once she was cleared to leave, Mystic recovered at Unleashed before she was adopted!
Gracie
Gracie was used for breeding and dumped at a shelter, full of milk and completely emaciated, after her last litter had been sold…they had no more use for her and ditched her like trash. PRC helped TAF get her out and to the vet where she was treated for terrible pneumonia, on IV fluids and medicine. From there she was slowly fattened up and went to a foster home who was unable to part with her once healthy and adopted her!
Hossa
TAF’s President Sue was mourning the loss of her beloved Trio, namesake of the Foundation, when she came across this photo of a red brindled pitbull at a shelter. He had been hit by a car, had a broken hip, arm, open sores and road rash all over his body. TAF sponsored all of his medical care, including extensive physical therapy, and PRC cared for him until he was adopted several months later. He now lives a wonderful life!
Ember
TAF spotted this big girl with pretty eyes cowering in her cage at the shelter. With the help of PRC we got her to the vet to be spayed where it was discovered her spleen had a giant laceration on it and needed to be removed immediately. This type of injury usually comes from abuse (like being kicked in the stomach) and we were so happy we got her to safety when we did! Ember went to foster once she had recovered from her surgery and the couple ended up adopting her. She now enjoys long runs with her mom and brother and never has to endure any abuse!
Marla
Petite Marla was snuggled in her bed so tightly we could barely see her! This little lady was treated for kennel cough and parasites and finally spayed. Good friends of TAF met her and added her to their small-dog family!
Stryder
This handsome Mastiff-mix was in the right place at the right time! Surrendered for unknown reasons, Stryder caught the eye of PRC when we were at our local shelter together. He was treated for an upper respiratory infection and adopted to a wonderful home with plenty of land, horses and a super cute corgi sister!
Puck
On a trip to the city pound TAF noticed a mushy faced pup in his cage, begging to be taken out of his cage. He soon found himself in our car as PRC and TAF headed to the vet. He was treated for a horrible upper respiratory infection, mange and a secondary skin infection and neutered. Puck became a volunteer favorite and made new friends everywhere he went. Puck caught the eye of a couple who had recently lost their beloved pup to cancer and it was love at first meeting….as you can see in this photo!!
Nova
Nova had been dumped by his owner at a suburban pound before making his way to AWL’s intake facility. A breed-specific group was supposed to come for him but after several weeks, they hadn’t shown up and Nova was wasting away. PRC stepped up for him and he was treated for kennel cough, parasites and quickly adopted to a wonderful home with a giant yard!
Macho
Poor Macho had been found wandering the streets of Chicago and was so terrified at the shelter. He was treated for a terrible upper respiratory infection, neutered and with a little extra food and tlc transformed into a happy little guy!
