Before & After
Lilah
On a Friday afternoon we were down at the shelter dropping off much needed supplies...and met a dog who was going to be euthanized that evening. We just couldn't leave her behind with those pleading eyes, so we got her out, vetted and got to know her personality! She was super social with other dogs, loved people, was enthusiastic but easy going...and a few weeks later she met her new mom and dad who were looking for a pup to fill a hole in their heart. The rest is history!
Jackpot
This handsome beefcake was named Jackpot because...well...he hit the jackpot when we met him at the shelter! He was so handsome, but so giant that we knew his chances of getting out of the shelter were slim so we worked with PRC to get him out, fully vetted, and less than a month later he met his dad who also felt he...hit the jackpot with this amazing pup!!
Itty and Bitty
Itty and Bitty are brother and sister chihuahua's who were absolutely terrified at the shelter. They would barely eat and when they did they couldn't keep it down because they were so nervous and afraid. We got them out ASAP and after they were spayed/neutered, fully vaccinated, microchipped and treated for fleas, they were adopted together to a warm and loving mom who adores them!
Diamond
Diamond was dumped at a local open access shelter for no real reason. She was so depressed and appeared to have given up when we scooped her up. After some down time she really perked up and made a new BFF in a TAF/PRC adopter Kiira, and soon after she found her new mom. It was really love at first sight!
Liv
Liv was surrendered to a local shelter where she cowered and shook in her cage. She was so scared she wouldn’t even eat. The second we took her out she perked up and is now the happiest, most loyal pup and is looking for her forever home through PRC.
Buford
Found as a stray wandering alongside some railroad tracks, Buford was so despondent and sad in his cage that we couldn’t wait for his stray hold to be up so we could spring him! A few days, medical attention and some antibiotics for his upper respiratory infection...and this handsome beefcake was adopted by a Chicago Policeman who had just lost his best furry friend. It was a perfect match!
Brunette
At a TAF sponsored volunteer day we noticed this sad puppy with open scars all over her face. When we looked a little closer, we found that the teeth on her upper jaw had been torn from her gumline and were hanging off. We raced her to the vet where she had emergency surgery. Brunette recovered well and was adopted by a wonderful family with kids!
Valentine
TAF received a call from our local shelter that a german shepherd puppy had been surrendered by her owner with deformities on her front arms. We named her Valentine and took her to several vets to get different opinions about what could possibly be done. The top orthopedic surgeon in the area performed two extensive surgeries on her arms. Valentine went through weeks of rehab and we were pleased that while her arms would never be perfectly straight, she was pain-free and had much more mobility.
Stellar
Stellar was surrendered at a local shelter by her owners. Her ears had clearly been cut at home and she was so incredibly sad. On one of our visits, PRC was with us and agreed to take her into their adoption program. She was vetted, bathed and went to a foster home where she lived with another dog and two cats. Not long after, Stellar met her perfect match and was adopted.
Shaw
TAF received a plea for help from a group who had come across a dog whose collar had been embedded in his neck and caused a huge, nasty infection. He was in so much pain. Our vets performed surgery immediately to clean out the wounds and closed up the gaping tissue. Weeks went by until Shaw was healthy and ready for adoption. He was adopted to a wonderful family!
