Before & After
Clue
Two months ago, Clue (pup on the right) was homeless and living on the streets of Chicago. Sleeping in a dirt hole that he had dug for himself, Clue did the best that he could to stay warm and safe. If you take a look at the photos on the left, you will see where Clue considered home.
We are happy to announce that after weeks of medical and emotional care, Clue has found his forever home in time for Christmas!!!
This once terrified boy was so smitten with his new dad that he kept play bowing within moments of meeting him. That was the fastest that Clue has ever warmed up to anybody! By the look of the smile on his face, Clue knew that he had just found his new forever family. Never again will he have to worry about where his next meal is coming from or how he is going to stay warm throughout the night... life is good.
Eden
Found lying in the middle of the street with gunshot wounds in her left shoulder and hip, it was hard to believe that Eden was still alive.
After pulling back much of the dead tissue and dried blood around Eden’s shoulder wound, it was more gruesome than we had imagined. The wound was filled with maggots, her tendons and ligaments were exposed… you were able to touch her actual scapula (bone) with your finger. In addition to this, Eden was emaciated, dangerously dehydrated and the infected bullet wound in her left hip was already filled with purulent fluid and necrotic tissue.
That night, Eden’s medical team stayed and worked on her for 4 hours after the office closed. After her emergency surgery, Eden’s belly filled up with gas and doubled in size. The gases produced from the rotting animal carcass she had eaten off the side of the road were too much for her body to handle. She was immediately transferred over to the ER Vet where she was put on supportive care.
After weeks of hospitalization, a slow feeding regime, antibiotics, surgery, IV fluids and pain killers, Eden was able to make a full recovery. When it came time to work on Eden’s emotional healing, we enlisted TAF’s canine therapy dog, Rylan, to assist. Rylan helped to bring Eden out of her shell and taught her how to play and interact with people.
Now comes the time for the really good news… we are so happy to announce that Eden has made a full recovery and has found her forever home!!! Never again will she feel hunger pains or the cruelty of man. Eden will live out her days never questioning if she is loved or where her next meal is coming from. She will always know the warmth of a cozy bed and the comfort of her family’s love… quite possibly the best gift ever!
Edith
When TAF first came across our senior Edith at an open access shelter, she was suffering from advanced dental disease and had a terrible upper respiratory infection starting to brew.
Once Edith received the "all clear" from her medical team, she was ready for adoption.
As fate would have it, Edith's future mom and dad have been long time TAF supporters, and had been waiting for the right little girl to join their home. When they saw Edith’s sweet little face, they fell in love with her and the rest is history. Edith’s new parents love her so much and will make sure that her twilight years are filled with happiness. Never again will she find herself alone at a shelter.
Bryant
Look who found his forever home… Bryant!
TAF came across Bryant after he had been given up at an open access shelter. Knowing that he had a medical condition that needed treatment/surgery, TAF took Bryant into our program.
After monitoring his health for two weeks, Bryant was neutered, fully vetted and had his eye removed (it was recessed as a likely result of a birth defect) and was cleared for adoption.
Soon thereafter, Bryant found his way to a loving home in the suburbs… no more busy Chicago city life for this boy. He will now be chilling out in his big backyard with his new kids and dog brother to play with him. Bryant’s new mom loves dogs so much she even has her very own in-home pet care service. We couldn’t have asked for a better home... just look at that smile on his face!!!
Herbie
TAF's old man Herbie has gotten his second chance at a new and improved life.
When we first came across Herbie in an open access shelter, he was suffering from severe dental disease. This is conjunction with the matted fur pulling around his mouth actually made his jaw line up improperly. Herbie was in a lot of pain so after his face was shaved down he went straight into a pretty lengthy surgery to fix his mouth.
It took awhile for Herbie to get back on his feet but we are so happy to announce that he has found his forever home. Herbie not only has a mom that loves him but some furry siblings, too. There is nothing better than when one of our "littles" is paired up with a "big"... it is cuteness x's 100!
Meme
After being left at an open access shelter by her owner, TAF took this scared baby girl into our program. She didn't show the best in her cage but we knew that if we gave her some time, she would learn to trust again.
Well, we are so happy to announce that Meme's personality has blossomed and she is doing great! Better yet... Meme has found her FORVER home! Meme's new family is so attentive with her and have fallen head over heals in love with her. Meme's new boy is one of the coolest kids that we have met and hearing him talk about how much he loves his dogs was pretty spectacular. We have no doubt that she is going to be treated like a princess!
Miagi
Wonderful news... Miagi has found his forever home!!!
When TAF came across Miagi at an open access shelter he was scared, covered in fleas, had an ear infection and a yeast infection between the skin folds on his face. He was not feeling well at all and was very stressed.
Now, after making a full recovery, Miagi has a new dad and brother that love him and a home to call his own. Such a sweet beginning for his new lease on life!
Carson
Once full of fear and sadness... Carson is now beaming with happiness!
Our handsome old man smiled for the first time when he met his new family... his forever family. For the rest of his life, Carson will know what it is to be loved and cared for. At 10 years old, he truly saved the best for last!
Lucy
We are so happy to announce that our senior girl Lucy has found her forever home!!!
After a much needed dental and some rest and relaxation, Lucy showed her new pearly whites to her new family and they fell head over heals for her. How could you not love that face!
It would definitely be a cuteness overload watching this fluffy duo walking down the sidewalk together!
Beverly
FANTASTIC NEWS... our once neglected Beverly as found her forever home!!!
Beverly was brought into an open access shelter in deplorable condition. The matted fur on her paws, legs and back were pulling so tight that they left open sores. Urine burns only added to her pain and discomfort.
Beverly was placed on pain medication/antibiotics and after a few weeks made a full recovery.
Luckily for Beverly, her new mom saw her story on Facebook and wanted to make sure that she never went a day without knowing she was loved, again. Beverly now has two siblings and will be treated like a queen the rest of her life. She truly got her happy ending!
